Sunday Multi-Language Exchange and Conversation Meetup
Details
This is the regular, twice-a-month multi-language exchange meetup at Cafe Bar Marzano. The aim of the event is simply to provide a space and time for learners of foreign languages to meet each other, make friends, practice their conversation skills and hopefully teach and learn from each other in a relaxed atmosphere and in a self-guided way. There will be no top-down instruction or orchestrated activities. You will be free to talk about what ever you like (always with respect, sensitivity and due consideration of others' boundaries, please).
As usual we will have separate tables for each foreign language: French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and German, and any more that you wish to bring with you (languages, that is, not tables), as long as there are at least two speakers of that language among us on the day. If you are a native English speaker, wishing to practice French, or if you are a native French speaker wishing to practise English, you will sit on the table with the French flag. Speakers of other languages will sit at their respective tables in the same way. There will be no rules regarding how much time should be spent practising one language or another. That will be up to you, but please be generous and offer learners of your native language the chance to practise it with you.
As always, you are free and encouraged to move around to meet different people and change tables if you are learning more than one language. We welcome speakers and learners of any language and I will do my best to introduce you to others who speak the language you want to practice or who are learning your native language. This won't alway be possible if it is one of the less common languages among our members, but we will endeavour to make you feel welcome regardless. If you have an interest in languages, you will surely meet like-minded people.
It will be very helpful if you can please RSVP if you intend to come (and cancel your spot if you can't make it).
A £1 donation would be greatfully received for attendance at each event (to cover group running costs); there will be a pot on a table you can put it in.
Look out for the flags & the meetup sign when you arrive.
I look forward to seeing you there!
