What we’re about
Welcome to Note Lovers - Live Music Listening in Ottawa!
We like small venues where we can listen to great music and also chat together, get to know each other, and meet the musicians too. Live Jazz, Blues, and World/ International music mostly. Tango and Flamenco when we can find it. A little Funk, Bluegrass, R&B, Instrumental, Folk, Soul, Rock, Musicals, and occasionally Classical. Also, other stuff that looks like a good time.
If you're coming to a show, please say hello and sit with the group. We almost always book venues with open seating so we can bunch together. We'll be looking for you because we want to meet you! For this reason, make sure that your Meetup profile shows your portrait clearly. We're here to make friends...with you!
Also, please RSVP to your events, and change your RSVP to "not coming" if you change your mind. Buy tickets in advance wherever possible because great shows fill up.
Good times!

Bell Canto Wind Quintet at Salle Jean-Despréz!
This is the first of a lovely series of performances by local classical musicians. You’ll recognise some and be happy to meet the rest at a warm, friendly, croissant-and-coffee Sunday morning performance. I mustn’t understate the croissant. Chatting with Laurie Rosewarne this morning about the series, (herself a classical accordion player featured on the tango nuevo May 4th event- smiling in the red top), apparently the croissants are the best in the city and they’re picked up that very Sunday morning from the Faithful Bakery FAITHFUL BAKERY! and served with jam which we will all, of course, courteously refer to as confiture. The continental breakfast is included in your ticket.
Bell Canto Romantic Winds Quintet has been performing in the region for over 25 years. It is comprised of renowned local musicians who regularly perform with orchestras such as the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Gatineau Symphony Orchestra and the Kingston Symphony.

- Ruby Waters at the Bronson Centre!Bronson Centre , Ottawa, ON
Hey, Note Lovers, it's Carolyn here. Come join us for Ruby Waters at the Bronson Centre!
raw, unapologetic folk rock indie pop.
Ruby Waters is a Canadian singer-songwriter of Métis and Slovak heritage, and grew up in Shelburne, Ontario… Her single "Blow" was released in 2021 and was named the 29th best Canadian song of the year in CBC Music's year-end charts for 2021. She received a Juno Award nomination for Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2022 for If It Comes Down to It.
“Waters isn’t one to shy away from acknowledging the role that cigarettes and alcohol can play as coping mechanisms for mental health issues. The artist’s debut EP, Almost Naked, introduces her at her most raw and vulnerable. While many of the tunes are rooted in tales of heartbreak, they carry an air of optimism and rejuvenation. Listeners are rooting for Ruby — her carefree attitude is contagious.” Jacob Carey CultMTL review
