Details

We are really looking forward to this group growing, and with it, making a community.

This walk is roughly 5.5 miles long with around 1070ft elevation. This walk is considered moderate with some steep inclines, however beginners are welcome. We will start at Dennis Knoll Car Park (unsure if this is free some say yes some say no), this is a small carpark so possibility of verge parking. Please carpool where possible. No toilets are available and wild weeing will have to be the option. The Bamford and Stanage Edge Circular Walk will take you along the edge of these two rugged escarpments for some amazing views across the surrounding valleys and moorland. The route passes through a variety of terrain and will allow you to explore the rugged landscape that is home to some of the Peak District’s most challenging and alluring rock climbing routes. Get set for an awesome day of exploring the outdoors along a route that is suitable for casual and seasoned walkers alike. After the walk, we can have a drink at The Plogh inn Bridge, Hathersage, Leadmill S32 1BA. this is an 8 min drive from the carpark. The pub serves food too, but as we know this may not be possible on a Sunday, so feel free to bring lunch with you as we can stop along the way.

Please note: This walk has been described as moderate and boggy. Please bring suitable footwear and clothing. I have not done this walk for over 6 years, so please be patient if I get us lost etc.

We really encourage carpooling so that we can keep car numbers down both for the environment and the carparks. It's also a great way to get to know some people.

Please make sure to bring:
• Sturdy, waterproof walking boots. It can get very muddy and slippy on these walks
•Waterproof clothing, it is England after all
•Warm/cold weather layers. Prepare for all weather
•Enough water for the duration of the walk
•Lunch and snacks as needed. There won't often be places to buy things en route
Etiquette - If you can no longer attend the event, please remember to cancel yours and / or your guests rsvp as we often have people on the waiting list and it means we won't wait around for you either

Please note that the organisers may not have walked these routes before, so bear with us whilst we navigate.

You are joining these walks at your own risk and are fully responsible for yourself and the choices and actions you choose to take at these events.

Meetup charge organisers to run these groups, and therefore, we would appreciate a £1 donation to help toward the cost of the group. Anything extra will go toward maps, apps, and first aid. Please bring £1 on the walk or pay as a friend payment via PayPal
