[Event description from the Broadway website]
'Ebony Reels Film Club welcomes you to Broadway Cinema for a special screening event exploring the development of the Standing In This Place sculpture project - planned for Nottingham Broadmarsh’s new ‘Green Heart'
Enjoy a rich mix of film, fantastic spoken word performances from Quinton Green and Nottingham poet Cara Thompson, as well as a fascinating interactive panel discussion with key figures from the project. Two short films by Fred Glenister (50 mins) and Rachell Halaburda (15 min) will showcase the development, creation, and casting of this important artwork. The sculpture gives voice and recognition to the contributions of millions of enslaved Black women uprooted to the Americas, as well as the thousands of Nottingham women and girls whose labour was the driving force behind the East Midlands’ textile industry and the development of Nottingham’s Lace Market.
Join us! Celebrate the many collaborators whose grassroots participation has brought untold stories and this artwork to life.'
Duration: 150min
Screening event starts at 2pm in Screen One. Booking link at https://www.broadway.org.uk/whats-on/standing-place-journey-continues.
If you arrive before the start of the screening event, We'll be in the Café Bar from 1.15pm.
