**RENDEZVOUS**

* Car sharing is advised if possible. Free on street parking.
* Meet at 9.45am for a **10am start.**

* Distance: 10 miles
* Total ascent: 98 ft
* Duration: 4 hours
* Pace: moderate
* Terrain: mostly good paths and tracks which can be wet and muddy in places.
* Difficulty: easy

* **WHAT TO BRING**
* Food: enough food for a day's walking. A light lunch and some energy-full snacks (such as nuts and cereal bars that you can eat on the move) are advised.
* Water: at least 2 litres of water. Whatever the weather, it’s important to stay hydrated, especially when exercising!
* Boots: sturdy shoes or boots for rocky and muddy terrain are necessary. Fashion trainers are not appropriate.
* Waterproofs: even if it isn't forecast to rain, bring a waterproof jacket just in case. It won’t harm to pack waterproof trousers too. It’s not easy to dry once wet.
* Layers and wind breakers: the weather can be very changeable at all times of the year, so come prepared. The wind on exposed hill tops can make it particularly cold, even when it’s warm on the way up. It’s better to pack too much than too little. Lightweight walking trousers are best. Jeans are strongly discouraged as they are very uncomfortable when wet and take a long time to dry.

**CONSIDERATIONS**

* We are an informal group, not a club, and we are not trained mountain leaders.
* Please note that by joining a walk or other activity you take responsibility for your own actions and participate at your own risk.
* As an environmentally conscious group, we actively encourage car sharing. If you are interested in joining this walk but don't drive, please post on the event page to see if there is anyone willing and able to offer you a lift.
* Please be courteous and let others know with plenty of notice if you are unable to attend, especially if you have offered lifts or are getting a lift from someone.
* Please bear in mind that the routes planned may not have been walked by the organisers before. Please be patient with your organisers if the footpaths aren't where they are supposed to be!
* Many of the organisers use the OS Maps app. This can be very useful for viewing, downloading and tracking the routes. There is an annual subscription to get all the features but if you are a regular hiker, it is definitely worth it.

**DONATIONS**

* While the membership of our group is free, we ask all attendees to donate just £1 per walk towards our Meetup subscription fees to help keep us running! You're welcome to send an annual contribution of your choice if you are a regular and that is easier.

We aim to be as transparent about this as possible.

* We keep the money in a Monzo pot held by one of the organisers
* The money is a donation, not a fee. It is optional and does not constitute a purchase of any sort. We are an informal group, not a club, and we are not trained mountain leaders.
* If we end up with more money than is required to cover the next two Meetup fees, we will donate the excess to Mountain Rescue.
