Turkey Run – Dead Run (Rating: C)

This is a 6 mile hike with 500 feet of elevation gain. We will begin at Turkey Run Park Lot C1 off of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. We will hike on the Potomac Heritage trail, the Dead Run trail and the Turkey Run trail. We hike at a pace of 2.5 to 3.0 mph while moving. At the half way point we will stop for a snack break.

The hike requires quite a bit of maneuvering around rocks and over and under trees and also includes approximately ten stream crossings.

This hike is only suitable to do if the Potomac River level is not high and there has not been much rain in the previous week which would make the streams difficult to cross.
