Overall Run - Heiskill Hollow Loop, Long Version (Rating: A+)

You must read the following NVHC Sign-in Sheet Statement/Liability Disclaimer, https://nvhc.com/signin.pdf and then answer the question that you will see when you RSVP with "I accept" to be permitted on the hike.

This is a 16-mile version of the Overall Run hike with 3300' of vertical ascent. You must have previous experience with A+ hikes to be permitted on this hike. For this hike, everyone will be placed on the waitlist at first, and I will move people to "going" as they are vetted, but up to a limit of 15 participants. Please message me describing your recent A+ experience if I have not hiked with you recently or if I do not move you over promptly.

We will start from the Thompson Hollow trailhead and use the following trails: Thompson Hollow, Overall Run/Tuscarora (passing Overall Run Falls), AT, Elkwallow, some roads on Mathews Arm, Heiskill Hollow, Beecher Ridge (uphill), Overall Run and Thompson Hollow (again).

We will stop at the Elkwallow Wayside for lunch.

Meet at Centreville Park and Ride at 6:45 am for a 7:00am departure, or by 8:15 am at the Thompson Hollow trailhead. We will start hiking by 8:30 am.

• Trailhead parking is very limited. Carpooling is recommended.
• Dogs are permitted on this hike in accordance with the NVHC Dog Policy, https://tinyurl.com/nvhcdogpolicy, but they must also have A+ experience.
• Terrain: Steep ascent to Overall Run Falls, with most of the uphill being in the morning. In the afternoon, there will be ~500' of vertical ascent on the Beecher Hollow and Overall Run trails.
• Pace: 2.25 to 2.75 mph when moving.
• Suggested carpool fee: $8.

Please bring lunch, snacks, at least 2 liters of water, sunscreen, bug spray, and hat. Hiking poles recommended. Refilling your water bottles/hydration bladder at Elkwallow is recommended if it is a hot day.
