What we’re about
Welcome to Religious Recovery, specifically for Evangelical, Pentecostal and/or Fundamental Christians. This group provides conversational spaces for people questioning or recovering from the impact of Evangelical and/or Pentecostal theological and cultural factors. The intentions of this group are to:
1. Connect with each other based on similar experiences.
2. Engage in thoughtful discussion regarding the personal, social and systemic impact Evangelical/Pentecostal theology and culture.
3. Honor the various impacts of the religion, ranging from positive to neutral to negative.
4. Find a place of acceptance and community among people who have varying ideas, perspectives, and lives.
The intentions of this group are NOT the following:
1. A church alternative.
2. A place to persuade others on any belief, value, or idea.
3. Therapy.
The format of this group will be held via Zoom 2 times a month The 2nd Week of the month, we will discuss something related to theology and the 4th week of the month, we will discuss something related to the culture.
- 10 - 15 minutes to meet and greet
- 40 minutes for topical conversations regarding the influence of the theology and culture in our personal, social and systemic worlds (see the scheduled events for discussion topics)
- 10 minutest for facilitator will recap, share appreciations and some words of care.
We will laugh, we might cry, and offer each other support. This is not a therapy group, but might have therapeutic outcomes. If you are interested in connecting with people who are recovering from Evangelical/Pentecostal Christianity, please join us. You are also welcome to join if you are recovering from other religions. I'm sure we will find similarities we can connect on.
