Join us for our 11th Annual and final Holiday hike from Unicoi State Park to Helen with lunch at Hofer's Bakery!

The 3-mile winding trail starts out as the Bottom Loop Trail near the Lodge at Unicoi State Park. We will follow the green blazes as the trail continues through stands of rhododendrons and mountain laurels to cross Lower Smith Creek.

After crossing several small streams, the trail intersects the Unicoi Mountain Biking Trail. Our hike will end at Unicoi Hill City Park in downtown Helen.

After arriving in Helen, we will make our way to Hofer's Bakery & Café.

I will check with Hofer's to make sure they are open, but, if we find them closed, we will enjoy lunch at nearby Café International on the river.

What to bring:

Water for trail

Walking stick or trekking poles

Money for lunch at Hofer's Café

Ziploc baggie for any lunch leftover's
(easier than a to-go container in your pack)

What to wear:

Dress in layers as this time of year can be chilly

Hiking boots or trail shoes with a good grip

Meeting Time: 10:00 am

Meeting Place:

We will meet at near the trail head in the Lodge restaurant parking area. There is not a fee to park in the restaurant parking area. As you approach the lodge, you will see an underpass going uphill. The restaurant parking is located here.

Hike Distance: 6 miles (3 miles each way)

Estimated Hike Time: 4.5 hours including lunch

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

After lunch we will return back along the trail to our cars at Unicoi State Park.
