What we’re about
Hello and welcome new friends and old friends!
We are a group of friendly South Sounder, who are looking to expand our circle of friends.
Are you new to the area? Would you like to expand your circle of friends? Is your life full or too much work and little play? Has Covid-19 got you down and looking for ways to connect and stay active?
Then we are the group for you! Even if you have lived here your whole life and would like to meet more people, then why not give us a try. This club is a collaborative, volunteer driven project. We like many activities such as hiking, walking, bird watching, cycling, movie watching, reading books, cooking and sharing meals, dancing, bowling, and many other things.
If you’ve ever thought to yourself “I’d love to see that new movie but don’t want to go alone,” "I want to try this activity but don't know anyone," "I want to hike, bike, or ...., you fill in the blank, than this is a good place to post the event and see who else is just dying to see that very movie or try that activity. We'd love to get you out on the trails, out to the movies, welcome to our group.
Our sister organization is the Olympia Hiking and Outdoor Recreation Group, if you’re interested in hiking, snowshoeing, bicycling, camping, or other adventures, be sure to stop by and check us out.

A pioneering oboe, bassoon, and piano ensemble, The Poulenc Trio has garnered international recognition over its 20-year history. With performances in 47 U.S. states and at prestigious music festivals around the world, including the Ravello Festival in Italy, the San Miguel de Allende Festival in Mexico, and the White Nights Festival in Russia, they have firmly established themselves as one of the most active and sought-after touring piano-wind ensembles in the country. The Trio's performances have earned critical acclaim, with The New York Times praising their "elegant rendition" of Piazzolla's tangos and The Washington Post commending them for doing their namesake proud with an "intriguing and beautifully played program" that exuded "convincing elegance, near effortless lightness, and grace". Their concerts have been featured on American Public Media's Performance Today program, and their recordings are regularly broadcast around the world.
But the Poulenc Trio's impact extends beyond their performances. They have made a significant contribution to the repertoire for the oboe, bassoon, and piano by commissioning and performing over 22 new works, including three triple concertos for the trio and full orchestra, showcasing their commitment to pushing the boundaries of their ensemble's capabilities and expanding the possibilities of chamber music.
- Wednesday Writing Group - All WelcomeStarbucks, Tumwater, WA
In-person writing session at the cafe at The Grange Starbucks off Yelm Highway in Tumwater. We're a supportive and friendly group that welcomes writers of all backgrounds and skill levels.
WHAT WE'LL DO:
Our goal is to get writing done. We'll start with a brief hello and writing project check-ins. Then we'll clock 50 minutes of writing time. We don't offer a prompt. People work on all kinds of projects - or even simply write in journals.
After the writing time is up, you can stick around and volunteer to read what you wrote, or listen to others. We try to keep readings under 7 or so minutes each, with another 10 minutes or so for people to respond.
We're not a hard-core critique group. Feedback focuses on what people thought or felt when they heard your work. Some may offer simple suggestions strengthening works. We're a positive, encouraging group. Some writers have published many books, while others are not yet ready to actually call themselves a "writer" out loud. Regardless of where you are in your writing journey, you will be valued and find value in this gathering. New members and drop-ins always welcome.
Please note, RSVP counts may not be accurate. This event is shared across multiple meetups, such as the Gutsy Creatives meetup group. Kelsye will always be writing at the table even if there are no visible RSVPs.
