Open Orchard volunteers have been greening West Norwood and surrounding areas since 2014. If you're local and want to get involved with local greening projects - this is the volunteer group for you!

Knowles of Norwood , London
Join us for a relaxed urban greening and gardening session along Norwood Road. Open Orchard have been planting and maintaining the pavement beds along the road since Feb 2024. Now we are evolving into a dedicated group, the SE27 Street Gardeners, meeting approximately once a month.

New gardeners welcome. Tools provided but bring gloves if you have them! Sturdy footwear useful but not essential.

Optional cafe social from 11.30am (ish)

If you are late, you'll spot us gardening on Norwood Road somewhere between Tulse Hill and Knowles of Norwood.

Great way to learn about gardening, meet local people and try your hand at urban greening.

Our weekly volunteer session gets going just after 10am and finishes at 12pm, though volunteers are welcome to come and go as they please!
We are usually found on Rothschild Street at the community garden, but will occasionally work on orchards dotted around the West Norwood area.

Everyone is welcome - from newbies to seasoned gardeners. Tasks include watering, weeding, planting, pruning etc. If there is a very light rain we will still attend, but we call it off for medium-heavy rain/stormy weather.

We are an easy going bunch, and are always learning and growing.
Occasionally we will go for a local coffee after a session.
