Open Door Outreach volunteers (Little Rock area)

Come enjoy great conversation with great people at this monthly gathering of Open Door Outreach'ers. This month, the community-related topic will be "How To Get Along with Your Neighbors" (although discussion won't be limited to only that topic, and there's always info shared about community events and other opportunities). If you have insights, knowledge or ideas about the feature topic or other community-related info, please come share it. If you arrive hungry or thirsty, Panera Bread has delicious food, coffee and other beverages as well. Panera is across from the AT&T Store, Jared's Jewelers and Esporta Gym, near the Target shopping plaza on University Ave in Little Rock. Hope to see you there, and feel free to invite anyone!

This is our FUN once-per-month (2nd Sundays) cleanup of Main Street, LR, between 12th & 17th Streets. We meet in front of Community Bakery at I-630 & Main St. and our route returns us to Community Bakery (some ODO’ers enjoy staying there afterwards for coffee/chat/dessert!). Gloves, trash bags, vests, and picker-up'ers are provided - and a FREE T-shirt for volunteers! (If bad weather, call Brian Shank at 501-319-4789 to see if cancelled.)

The museum’s "Nog-Off" is one of the fun-nest of all of its monthly "2nd Friday Art Nights". Restaurants and other competitors will provide samples of their egg nog creations (beware, many are spiked!) for attendees to enjoy and vote for their favorites. This event is entirely free, including the hors d'oeuvres, wine & other beverages, live music ("The Jellies" will be performing!), and the art gallery will be open until 8pm. Expect the museum to be decked out with holiday decorations! This event is a great time for spreading cheer with new and old ODO friends. Note: there's free parking across from the south museum entrance on 3rd St, between Scott St and Cumberland St (the lot says reserved but it's open to the public for Art Night).

Must sign up at TinyURL.com/helpWCF and then email Dee Dee Moore with your full name, phone number and email address (ODO is required to provide the shelter with a list of all participants showing that information). She’ll then coordinate with you for the Confidentiality Agreement to provide the shelter location. We’ll be organizing and sorting donations as well as helping with general cleaning tasks for a short 2-hour shift. This help to Little Rock’s primary domestic violence shelter will undoubtedly be a very fulfilling and rewarding activity!

(Drop-in's welcomed) Come enjoy the holiday spirit with other ODO'ers! No need to bring anything, plenty of food and drinks will be provided. :) Enjoy great people and bountiful holiday vibes! The party will also be a drop-off location for any items that homeless and/or low-income people would like to have, and which can be carried away on foot, at the Christmas Caravan event on 12/21. Bringing an item(s) for the Caravan event is optional. Items can be used, and household items as well as items that help people warm in the winter will be most in demand. If you’d like to bring a new toy for distribution by Santa at the Christmas Caravan, the event requests that they cost $10 or more and be wrapped and labeled with gender and appropriate age for gift. Come celebrate people with birthdays in December (including yourself if you're a December baby!) We'll enjoy the fun & festive atmosphere at Senor Tequila's on University Ave with its delicious (free) chips & salsa, happy hour drink prices, plentiful parking, central and easy-to-get-to location. And of course, there will be CUPCAKES! Come make new friends, and feel free to invite anyone. Hope to see you there!

OPTIONAL: If you have items that low-income or homeless people would want or need, feel free to bring them. Items can be used. Household items and items that help people during cold weather will be most in demand. OPTIONAL: if you'd like to add to Santa's distribution to low-income children at the Christmas Caravan, then bring a new toy with a cost of $10 or more, wrapped and labeled with gender and appropriate age for gift. Regardless, come enjoy some holiday merriment and a Feel Good time!

RSVP not required, please show up if you can! This event is an annual tradition for ODO -- one of our most "wonderful feel-good" events every year! The Little Rock community comes together to distribute items wanted and needed by low-income individuals/families as well as homeless people - and Santa distributes toys to children in need. Please arrive to the parking lot of St. Mark's Baptist Church no later than 7:30, because we'll need to organize, sort and consolidate items before the distribution begins at 8am. If you have gently used items to donate that would be desired by low-income people (including homeless), feel free to bring them! The event also invites participants to bring a new toy, costing at least $10, wrapped and labeled with the gender and appropriate age for the gift.
