Are you interested in contributing to OpenSearch Core, but feel overwhelmed by the size and complexity of the codebase? You're not alone!
To help new potential OpenSearch developers get started, we'll be doing a series of deep-dives covering "vertical slices" related to specific user actions. For each lesson, we'll start at the REST API layer and walk down through layers of code until we hit the lowest levels of OpenSearch. The meeting will be recorded and uploaded to the OpenSearch Project YouTube channel.
This will be a parallel series to the Indexing Deep Dives, but will look at search APIs. This first part will start at the _search REST API and drill down through some of the logic that runs on coordinator nodes before a request is fanned out to index shards.
