4 day / 3 nights in Monongahela National Forest (WV) - Thanksgiving Hike
Details
Update 11/ 14: Oops, thought Thanksgiving was the week of 20th. Apologize, this is over Thanksgiving 11/27 - 11/30.
Update 11/ 12/2024: Still working on the route, hope.to have it posted by this weekend.
There may be some road walking, and or a stop in town, TBD.
Looking closely at top and back of Seneca Rocks (up and down all gullys), or Otter Creek Wilderness loops, or potentially North Fork Mountain - so many good places I've never been.
Likely will be a Wednesday morning drive down and half day hike. Thursday / Friday in the woods, and Saturday morning hike out, drive back Saturday afternoon.
Subject to change and / or cancellation if the weather is completely atrocious :) Some bad weather is alright - but if it plans to be stupid all 4 days....might swing this hike somewhere it's not stupid.
Eitherway - this Thanksgiving I am DEFINATELY opting outdoors.
original post:
4 day 3 nights; average mileage will be between 10 and 12 a day, nothing crazy; with a short hike out Sunday morning; expecting high elevation gains / some good climbs
Meeting location TBD
- Thanksgiving Hike / Birthday Hike / Opting outside
- Route and parking location TBD
- Will be planning a loop to hit a few areas such as Spruce Knob, Seneca Rocks, Judy Springs, etc.
- Weather permitting, planning for star gazing
Hike at your own risk
I hike typically 2.5 - 3mph
I'll DM anyone RSVPing a week before the trip
