I have heard that Tallin Christmas market is really magical so I thought I would organise a trip for the group there.

In the oldest square of Tallin, you can once again find a piece of the Christmas fairy tale – stalls and the stage of the Tallinn Christmas Market will open here. Residents and guests of the capital love to visit them during the winter holidays. This year, the Christmas Market will be open longer in the evenings, so that you will definitely have time to taste Christmas dishes and hot drinks. Another surprise for the visitors to the fair is the new design of the stage, which will offer a rich cultural program on weekends.

According to a tradition that dates back more than 580 years, a Christmas tree will be installed in the center of the Town Hall Square – the height of the main Christmas tree of the country this year is 15 meters. This beauty has grown in Mustjõe village of Anija parish. The tree will be decorated with golden balls and Christmas lights that shine with cold and warm light.

The stalls at the Christmas Market will offer traditional Christmas food, from stewed sauerkraut and the familiar black pudding to more sophisticated dishes like duck legs or venison entrecote. Vegetarians are not deprived of attention this year either – they will also find a lot of delicious dishes.

What is Christmas without sweet treats? For the first time, the House of Sweets will be opened at the Christmas Market – you can easily find it by smell, as large cinnamon and cardamom buns will be baked in it. Buns are prepared here according to the recipe of the Krõbe Kakuke home bakery, which took part in the TV show “The Best Baker of Estonia”. You can also buy éclairs, macarons, and biscuits from the Suhkruingel confectionery.

As always, the Christmas Market will feature a huge range of gingerbreads, some of which can safely be called works of art! At the fair it will be possible to buy not only ready-made gingerbreads, but also original dough for spicy cookies, for example, with Bailey’s or Vana Tallinn liqueur.

You will be able to fight frost with hot drinks – with and without the addition of alcohol. Every year, the range of natural glöggs that can be tasted at the Tallinn Christmas Market is becoming wider. This time, visitors to the fair will find, for example, such a novelty as glögg with red orange and chili, which will be served in the organic food house. In the same house, those wishing to warm up are also welcome to taste the traditional blueberry-blackcurrant glögg, traditionally popular among visitors to the Christmas Market.

Numerous varieties of coffee will also be presented here. For the first time, you will be able to buy coffee in four unique flavours from the Estonian coffee brand Oakohv – connoisseurs will be able to ask for a drink to be prepared on site or buy coffee to go to brew it at home.

Those who feel that drinks do not ward off the cold well enough can buy sheep wool and sheepskin products from small Estonian manufacturers – mittens, hats, slippers, boots, blankets for baby carriages and much more. This is also a great gift idea for your loved ones!

Hidden among the stalls is a small house of crafts, where you can craft under the strict guidance of artisans and learn from them the basic working techniques.

Finer details:
Flights to Tallin are around £100 in Dec and we will all book our own nearer the time. There will be the option to return on either a Sunday or Monday. Hotels will be around £100 for 2 nights and £150 for the 3 nights. There is a £50 deposit to pay now which will come off the cost of the hotels and just means I have people's commitment before spending time booking things.
