I have always wanted to visit Cape Verde and thought it would be good to organise a trip there so we can get some Summer sun.

There are several islands that make up Cape Verde and we will be staying on the largest on Santiago. There is lots to do in Santiago itself and we can easily get the boat to explore other islands such as Sal and Sao Vicente.

Info Santiago: The largest island in the archipelago and home to Cape Verde’s capital, Praia, Santiago is an island rich in history, while also functioning as the main hub for inter-island transport across the country. Green valleys and plush plantations meet rugged mountains and bustling African towns, offering visitors yet another side to Cape Verde’s impressive diversity. The country’s old capital, Cidade Velha, was the first city to be built by Europeans in West Africa, and today is a registered UNESCO World Heritage Site, having once acted as the main slave trading point between Africa, Europe and America. Visitors can explore the old town and gain an insight into where Cape Verde history began. For an authentic experience take an excursion that includes a trip to the colourful African market where you will see how the locals socialise and shop for their everyday needs.

Info Sao Vincente: São Vicente is home to some of Cape Verde's greatest musicians, writers and thinkers. Considered to be the cultural hub of the island, São Vicente's capital, Mindelo, is proud of its rich tradition of music and art and has a vibrant nightlife, with a lively buzz of music throughout the pubs, restaurants and nightclubs. If you're looking for culture and a traditional experience then São Vicente will not disappoint.

Info Sal: Sal’s capital, Espargos, can be found in the centre of the island, but you’ll find the main resort area along the south of the island in Santa Maria. Here, you’ll find an endless expanse of golden beach which follows the coast all along the bay and around towards the western side of the island. As the main resort, Santa Maria is where you’ll find all our hotels on Sal, and each is within a 20-minute walk of the variety of shops, restaurants and bars that also reside there. Not only does Sal Island cater for serious beach goers, but also those in search of something a little more unique. There’s lots of history to absorb in the form of the island’s once booming salt trade (from which the island takes its name), and heading inland will uncover a vast, barren landscape with exceptional features, poles apart from the sandy paradise at Santa Maria. Our variety of excursions will help you to discover as much or as little of the island as you please, but one thing’s guaranteed, a holiday on Sal will be a memorable one.

Finer Details
I am sure that travel will be ok again by Nov 2023 but just to be on the safe side I will make sure that any accomodation I book has free cancellation so we can get our money back if we can't go due to Covid 19. We will also book our own flights nearer the time. These will cost around £150 to £180. All I will need to secure your place on the trip is a £50 deposit which will come off the cost of the hotels which look like they will be around £200 for 4 nights.
