Have you been to Padre Canyon lately? It is a nice class I & II hike with a bit of rock scrambling (you might want to bring gloves - but not mandatory). A moderate hike because of the altitude gain and some steep spots, but otherwise a pretty easy hike. Today (Saturday) there were a number of families - don't know if they went all the way to the top. Hiking poles might be helpful for some - especially on the way down. The round trip distance is about 3 miles. All Trails list the hike as moderately challenging - I assume that is because of the 750' elevation gain in a bit over a mile, but there are no major obstacles to overcome like the ones in Fossil Canyon. Our pace will be leisurely - we will take rest stops for those who need it and photo stops for anyone interested. There are some nice views of the great red rock walls and of the valley below as we ascend. We will probably be on the hike a little more than 2 hours, but allow more time if we have slower hikers or just want to spend more time along the way or at the top. We may want to hike a hundred yards or so down the other side to get a better view of Snow Canyon - we'll decide that on top (and it will be optional for anyone who would rather just sit and enjoy the crest views.
