**Monday December 2, 2024 (Monday) Yellow Knolls area Wander (in the Virgin River Gorge)**
**Tom McKee, leader. This is a moderate, Class 2 with maybe some 3, around 5 miles and about 800 feet elevation.**

Leaving the dirt parking area across the street from Terribles Chevron (exit 2 off I-15) at 9:30 a.m. and heading down the Virgin River Gorge to a small parking area where the hike begins. Some rock scrambling, some dry river rock hopping, and some bush-whacking throughout the hike. We will check out hamburger bun rock on our way to (or back from) visiting a massive vertical cliff with a beautiful sandstone outcropping, where we will have lunch. This hike includes a plethora of barrel cacti, Cholla, and Joshua. Possible ticks in the gorge (it might be they are just attracted to me) so light colored clothing and/or a lemon/eucalyptus oil spray might be a good option. If you sign up for this hike please be aware of changes in the weather. This hike will be limited to 12 Outback members.

**I should mention, (for full disclosure), at the start of this hike there is a barbed wire fence that must be addressed. Over the years the fence has fallen into disrepair but someone has finally repaired it. We will need a different access from years past, to start the hike so expect to climb, squeeze under, or squeeze through the strands of wire. I've been assured by the BLM, this repair was done to keep animals off the highway not to keep hikers away.**
