**Jarvis Peak Traverse via the NW Buttress and the West Ridge**
Kent Blizard, 435-256-5681, leader. Moderately Strenuous, Class 3, 5 miles, 1,800 feet elevation gain.

Jarvis Peak (6526 ft) is an old fave that Ben’s regularly led via the East Ridge (Bulldog Pass Road).

**This is a completely different hike that shares only the last few feet and the summit register with Ben’s route**. We will start along the S Utah Hill Rd, a jeep track, and then head up the aesthetically pleasing Class 3 North West Buttress (my name). The more interesting climbing (no real exposure) is interspersed with easier terrain where we can enjoy the wonderful topography of the West side of the mountain, completely different from the mountain’s aspect from Bulldog Pass Road. We then continue along the Class 1 North Ridge which will take us to the summit for lunch and amazing views (on a clear day). Our descent route will be by the Class 2 West Ridge which will bring us down to the jeep track, from where we will make good time walking back to our vehicles.

Dry weather will be necessary due to the Class 3 climb. A minimum of four Outbackers are required for this hike to go.
