Castenea Boulder Field PLUS surprise- 10miles, 2,500+ elevation HARD HIKE

** VERY HARD CHALLENGING HIKE....no beginners and must have hiked with me before or be vetted before attending.......Everyone will be screened before being moved off wait list.**

Ok, ok I hear YA......I am scheduling Castenea you rock scrambling junkies. This is a BRUTAL hike (but fun). Hands down one of the best rock scrambles on the East Coast!!We will be moving at a pace of about 3.2 mph on flats and little slower on hills. Boulder field at your own pace for safety reasons. There will be plenty of climbing even before we hit the boulder field. The boulder field is about 1.5 miles of straight up. Super challenging. This is a group hike in which we will support each other. Hence it is CRITICAL that your fitness level is closely matched to the attendees of the hike. There will be a "side adventure" after we reach the top of the boulder field......if you know what it is, shhhhhh...

GEAR REQUIRED: hiking footwear is a must as there will be plenty of rocks and roots. By plenty I mean millions of rocks!
Bring plenty of water and food/snacks as we will stop to eat at some point.

WEATHER: I have done this in brutal cold temps and pouring freezing rain. Not happening again....scheduling in November this time hoping for more ideal conditions...:)

CARPOOLING: This location is about 3 hours from Conshohocken, PA. Carpooling will be highly suggested to make driving time pass quicker and to split cost of gas and tolls. There will be folks getting hotels the night before as well. Use the comment section for this if needed. DO NOT OFFER TO BE A DRIVER AND THEN BAIL. Please and thank you..

PARKING AND MEETING LOCATION: We will park in the area to the right of the Municipal Building located at 347 Nittany Rd. Lot is small, so really hoping to maximize carpooling to minimize amount of cars.

Guest policy: NO GUESTS for this hike. Must be member of Outdoor Adventure Friends for communication purposes.
