Duncannon Hawk Rock to Cove Mountain Shelter and beyond
Details
Snapshot:
Intensity: moderate with some challenging parts
Length: 13 miles
Duration: 5-6 hours
Pace: varied based on terrain
Elevation: 1,900
Description:
This is a new to me out and back hike with stunning viewpoints. The trail's most distinctive feature is the opening that separates the ledge that extends on the opposite side of the river from the trail's mountainside. We will hike up to Hawk Rock and continue along the AT passing the Cove Shelter. When we reach about 6.5 miles, we will head back and come down the opposite side of Hawk Rock loop. Very rocky terrain....kind we love...:)
This area is home to many porcupines, so try not to pick a fight with one....lol Pictures and reviews sound amazing. Let's go explore!
