Part 1: Forward Stroke Clinic

Because forward stroke is somewhat intuitive, is arguably the least perfected skill in kayaking.

A good Forward Stroke takes concentration, practice, and a keen understanding of cause and effect as it relates to your body, boat, and blade. We will spend 3 hours pouring over your stroke in an effort to make you safer, stronger, faster, and more efficient paddler.

Who needs this class?

  1. Have you ever felt like you are working really hard to keep up with the group?
  2. Are you really tired and sore after paddling when other do not seem to be?
  3. Do you aspire to kayak race or paddle for fitness?
  4. Do you have a long journey planned?

You can go fast or go slow with an efficient forward stroke, but there is no reason to work harder than you have to. We will spend time on the water learning efficient and safe technique with expert coaches!

Part 2: Maneuvering Techniques Clinic

The Maneuvering Technique Clinic looks at the key cause and effect relationships involved in boat control, and students learn to perform paddle strokes and maneuvers safely and efficiently.

The class covers efficient forward and reverse paddling, a wide variety of strokes for turning, the use of edging to assist turning, rudder strokes for maintaining a course and draw strokes for moving sideways.

We also refine and practice low and high brace strokes for preventing capsize.
