You name it! For the past four years, we've gotten a good little hike in after Thanksgiving.

This year, we'll return to hike at Moose Hill to observe and admire birds outside.

Moose Hill is the oldest Audubon wildlife sanctuary and consists of almost 2,000 acres of protected woodland forests, fields, and wetlands, including a red maple swamp boardwalk. We'll hike part of the Bluff Trail for about 3 miles. The terrain is mostly packed dirt, with some grass and small rocks. As we go up the Bluff Overlook, a gradual incline becomes stone. The highest point is 534 feet.

There are lots of opportunities for birders of all levels of experience - including first timers spreading their wings - since there is dynamic terrain and types of foliage. There are all types of sparrows, woodpeckers, wrens, Bluejays - wait 'til you see the list! Last year, I was so surprised at how we enjoyed so much more of the nature around us along with the birds.

What To Bring:

* a liter of water
* warm layers, including a jacket for the rain
* binoculars
* snacks
* hiking boots recommended (athletic sneakers could work depending on weather - it may be muddy and wet)
