Come out paddlin'! 🛶

Spend a spectacular half-day exploring the San Joaquin River through a kayak tour with our [Big Fish friends](https://4142298.xyz/outdoor-afro-central-valley/events/302577841), San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust (SJRP). Once again, the SJRP will be providing us with an exciting day on the water and a greater understanding of the varied ecosystems present in the Central Valley.

**COST**
FREE! This event is in collaboration with and sponsored by [Justice Outside](https://justiceoutside.org/).

**LOCATION TO MEET**
Owl Hollow Gate at 11631 Old Friant Road. Participants will meet there and then carpool to Sumner Peck Ranch.

**KEEP IN MIND**

* The trip will last approximately 5 hours (8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.). We will be heading downstream, but you will need to paddle.
* Kayaks can overturn in the water. We ask, therefore, that you please only bring clothing and gear that can get wet.
* You will be in the sun for an extended period of time.

**BRING THE FOLLOWING**

* Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses (preferably with straps)
* Full water bottle-plus snacks if you would like (placed in a zip-lock bag)
* Sturdy shoes or sandals with straps (NO FLIP FLOPS!)
* Weather-appropriate clothing (Easily-packable layers. It'll be nippy in the morning.)
* Dry change of clothes to be left in your vehicle (in case of spills or
swimming)

**PLEASE NOTE**

* Avoid wearing cotton clothing. Cotton soaks up more water and keeps you colder than spandex or other synthetic materials.
* For your safety, you must wear a personal flotation device (provided by SJRP), whenever you are on the water.
* No alcoholic beverages are allowed on River Parkway Trust canoe or kayak trips/events.
* All participants must complete a liability form. SJRP will have copies available on the day of the trip.
