**Greetings Fellow Afros**,
Because certain parks containing trails close at sunset, does not mean ceasing our hiking activities and health goals on a weekday. **Thus, from now through March 2025, we are providing weekday urban night hikes**.

This event is for all hiker levels, from active beginners to advance.

**HIKE**
Let's venture through some of the same beautiful neighborhood paths & venture some wooded dirt trails as Towsonites.

**WEATHER FORECAST**: Calls for temperatures in the 60s.

**WAITLIST & COMPLETING MANDATORY OUTDOOR AFRO PARTICIPANT WAIVER**

1. **Everyone submitting a RSVP for this event starts on the Waitlist**.
2. For **every** Outdoor Afro (OA) event, **you must** **complete** the Outdoor Afro Participant Waiver **prior to the event**; **preferably the same time you RSVP.** Complete the waiver by selecting this link: **[Outdoor Afro Participant Waiver](https://outdoorafro.my.site.com/s/trip-waiver)**[ ](https://outdoorafro.my.site.com/s/trip-waiver). When completing the **\*Trip Leader Name** field, enter **Norwood Johnson** & select this name and complete other required fields (**\***).
3. **IMPORTANT: You MUST complete the waiver for "First Come, First Chance" consideration on coming off the Waitlist to attend this event**. Thanks!
4. Next, from the Waitlist, we will add a mix of **consistently reliable active members and new members as participating** and then attempt to give others a chance to partake.

**MEETING & START TIMES**:

* We will conduct introductions and start hiking at **6:05 pm**.

**ACTIVITY DETAILS**:

* This is primarily a paved terrain hike. There is 1 fun wooded dirt trail.
* There are a few hills ( Elevation Gain @ 375 feet).
* This is a moderate rated hike for those who hike or walk at least 8 miles per week - and please RSVP only if you can maintain a medium pace, navigate up and down hills and hike at least 7 miles - THANKS.

**HIKING MATERIALS**:

* **Headlamp, mobile phone, etc. for added illumination**.
* Running/trail running shoes, sneakers or comfortable walking shoes with treads.

* **[Hiking/activity socks](https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/backpacking-socks.html)**.
* 2 liters of water & healthy snacks.

**RSVP GUIDELINE & PROTOCOL**:

* **Only RSVP if you intend to make this event a priority, not just an option**. Specifically, it is not fair to take a confirmed spot, then cancel less than 48 hours in advance, limiting your fellow Outdoor Afro DMV members in “waitlist” status the potential to participate.
* **Reliability counts** as we assess late cancellations and no shows in determining participation for future events. Thanks so much in advance for your consideration as this helps me manage and know who is participating.
* **PROTOCOL**: **Please do not show up for this event unless your “RSVP” status is "Going"**. If you are on the **"Waitlist"**, then you cannot participate in the event. THANKS.

**SOCIALIZING:** It is beneficial to chat and make connections with new people and mingle amongst ourselves. We appreciate great attitudes.
