The Prickly Pear Trail offers a 3 mile loop perfect for exploring the park's open meadows, young hardwood and pine forests, and a view of the Indian River Bay. The trail is 8 feet wide in most places with a variable surface and is open to hiking, bicycling and horseback riding.

Located in north Bethany, access is available from the Hickman Road Trail Head, off Cedar Neck Road. GPS: 38.563743, -75.072705. To find the exact meetup location, copy the GPS coordinates into a google search bar. We will meet at the trail head at 10:00 am promptly. Parking is very limited.

The length of the hike is just about 3 miles long and it should take no longer than 2 hours to complete. Short breaks will be taken as needed but otherwise we will hike right through. It does get crowded.

There is no fee to enter the park this time of year.

Donations are accepted to offset the cost of the Meetup fees. Each member can bring one guest. Please list the first name of your guest in the comments section of this posting and they will have to sign the group waiver before the hike begins.
