**Note the meeting location is in the larger parking lot off 104th street, kiddie corner from the playground.
Let’s meet for a moderate + paced hike (approx 15:30 - 16:00+ minute mile) along 9 Mile Creek from Moir Park to the Minnesota River. We will hike between 6 & 7 miles depending upon if we take the easy route, or the route with more hills. We will meet at the larger parking lot on 104th Street (It is kiddie corner from the small parking lot and the playground) at 6:00 and leave no later than 6:10. If you are not sure how fast 15:30 minute miles are, there are a lot of good trackers for speed available on your smart phone (and are fee apps). The leaders use Map My Run by Under Armor to track time & distance.
Things to remember for winter hiking:
1. Dress in layers so if you get warm, you can remove a layer
2. Dress for about 15 degrees warmer than the actual temp. You will get warm hiking.
3. Bring a dry shirt for socializing afterwards to help prevent chills.
4. Decent shoes.
5. A headlamp is necessary for these shorter days.
Dogs are welcome on this hike. Per park rules, they must be on a leash.
If individuals want to socialize afterwards, we can go to Nine Mile Brewing. Dogs are allowed inside the brewery so our furry friends can come with!
Please note: If you fall behind and don’t keep up with the group, the hike leader cannot wait for you, or go back looking for you as everyone else is relying on the leader to keep the hike moving. Having All Trails as a free app for your phone is a good idea.
Please keep your RSVP updated. It is difficult to know if we should wait for someone if the RSVP is not kept current. If you are running late, place a comment in the event so we know if we should wait. Attendance may be limited at future events if you are a no show.
HIKE AT YOUR OWN RISK: By signing up for this event, you agree to assume personal responsibility for all risks associated with this event, and release the organizers, event hosts, and other members of the event from any liability.
See you at the Park 😊
