Hike details: This hike we’ll take us through a number of conservation properties, including Smallpox Triangle (AKA Training Field Triangle) and along the shores of several ponds in West Chatham. Around the ponds the sand is wet in places and we will walk in tall grass so TICK SPRAY is a must.

The Smallpox Triangle property is primarily a pitch pine and oak forest. A smallpox cemetery from the 1700s is located in the northwestern area of the property. An interpretive sign explains the history of the site. A trail loops the property and includes a segment of the Cape Cod Pathways trail system.

We'll be hiking on woodland trails, a few big hills, a few streets and a section of the bike path.
