First Battle of Manassas 5.4 Mi 360 Ft Moderate Hike

This historic loop hike will lead us over the landscape where on a warm July day in 1861, the newly formed Union and Confederate armies clashed for the first time. The trail begins at the Visitor Center and goes through forested areas, meanders through farm fields and woods. We'll climb a few gentle hills and cross small streams. Depending on previous precipitation, trails could be muddy in spots. There are two Rt. 29 road crossings. This 5.4 mile hike has an elevation gain of about 360 feet. We will hike about 2 mph.

Time to Meet: Please meet at 9:45 for introductions and liability waiver sign in. We will start hiking promptly at 10:00.

What to Bring: Water at least two liters, emergency contact information, medications, snacks/meal, insect repellent, sunscreen/protection from weather, and personal first aid kit. Trekking poles if you use them, sturdy hiking footwear.

Henry Hill Visitor Center hours are 9 am - 5 pm.

Attendance is limited at the discretion of our hike leaders. PATC rules do not permit children under 18 years to participate in a hike without a parent or guardian present.
