NYE Hike of Whiteoak & Cedar Run

Details

Whiteoak Canyon offers some of the best waterfalls in Shenandoah National Park. This hike is a popular loop that can get extremely busy during the summer but is also very enjoyable in the winter. If it is cold enough, the falls may freeze and provide some fantastic pictures. As this hike is in the winter, please make sure to check the evening before as I will cancel for inclement weather or if the hiking conditions are icy. Cell service is non existent in the parking lot, so please cancel by the evening before.

  • This is a Moderately Difficult Hike with 8.5 miles of hiking and 2,306ft of elevation gain.
  • Our pace will be around 2.25mph
  • Hike time will be about 4 hours
  • As it will be New Year's Eve, expect cold conditions!

Notes:

  • RSVP to attend hike. If your plans change, please update your RSVP.
  • The PATC requires each hiker to sign a liability waiver, which will be available at the trailhead
  • Please check Meetup the night before for possible cancellation.
