Description: We will explore the Buxton Trestle area with an eye for photos and discovery. The Buxton trestle was built for railroad use in 1920 and has been converted into a pedestrian trail, over Mendenhall Creek. This is just a small portion of the Banks-Vernonia Trail, which is popular for hikers and bikers.
The hike is scheduled for decent weather, based on the 10-day forecast. We will hike rain or shine and hope you can join us.

My hiking style involves stopping to admire scenes and take a few photos. Please do not expect this to be a fast-paced fitness walk. It’s important to stop, see, and feel the world around us! Also, know that I am a passionate hobbyist photographer, not a “pro.” This is not a photo workshop; we are shooting for pleasure, perhaps asking questions and sharing tips on composition and photo processing. I'm sure we will learn from each other.
Smartphone cameras are perfectly good for this walk, but bring whatever gear you like. You don't even need to bring a camera if you just want to enjoy nature walks and time with like-minded people.
WHAT TO BRING:
Good footwear
Water/snack if needed
Smartphone, dedicated camera, but not required. Just come for the walk if you wish.
Binoculars for wildlife watching, if you wish.
WHAT NOT TO BRING:
Anything illegal or illicit.
