What we’re about
There are several Peer Support Groups for adults 18+ on different days throughout the week. They are listed below. There are 2 groups that are meeting in-person in the Phoenix Metropolitan area (Maricopa County). And there are 7 groups that are meeting virtually as video meetings. All of the groups are listed farther down on the page. Please feel free to Email me at [email protected]. I will send you the facilitators Email addresses so that you can join their group. Or you are welcome to visit our site at Support Groups (FREE) for information.
Benefits of a Peer Support Group include:
- A safe place for people to share their experience.
- A place to get ideas on ways to cope.
- A forum for mutual acceptance and self-discovery.
- Being heard by sympathetic and empathetic people.
- Get a better understanding of your illness.
- Not being alone.
- Being able to connect & possibly make new friends.
- An opportunity to reach out to others and benefit from the experience of those who have “been there.”
- A place to remind ourselves that recovery is possible!
Peer Support Groups provide empowerment, support, information, education and socialization for individuals diagnosed with a mental illness. They are for those living with a mental illness & facilitated by peers. Also, family members and loved ones are welcome to come with their loved one to be of support for them. While Peer Support Groups should not be considered as a substitute for treatment, they can often be a compliment to treatment. The groups are FREE to attend.
*Support groups are not meant to be a substitute for professional advice. We only offer help by sharing our own experiences.
Directly below are all of the groups. For the virtual groups, please feel free to Email me at [email protected] for the Email addresses of the facilitators so that you can join their group(s). Or you are welcome to go to our site at Support Groups (FREE).
