How to Design a Site Talk

Details

As part of 'November Fall Training Month,' the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) has contracted with the National Park Service to offer a Zoom workshop on November 21, 6:30-7:30 pm, on how to design a site talk. Gretchen Wise, Supervisory Park Ranger - Division of Interpretation, Education, and Visitor Services at Independence National Historical Park - will lead the free session.

This program will present ideas about how to create interpretive programming that will offer visitors opportunities to engage intellectually and emotionally with the subject matter. This is a chance to be exposed to the basics of National Park Service interpretive philosophy as well as 21st century strategies and a basic understanding of ACE (audience centered experiences). If there is time, the discussion will include relevance and why it is so important to help visitors answer the question "so what?" It will be a fun, interesting presentation followed by a robust Q&A.

The session is free and offered on Zoom only. All are welcome! Those interested should email APT President Marianne Ruane [email protected] no later than 5 pm on the day of (Nov. 21) to receive the Zoom link.

Let's learn together!!!!
