Bienvenue Francophones!

Come and join us in the historic heart of Philadelphia for a small, in-person meetup either in The Bourse Food Hall or outside in Independence Mall Park. In some way we will be paying homage to history of the French language being a second language for many of the Founding Fathers and how this lead to the young nation getting help from France during the U.S. Revolutionary War.

FOOD
If you get hungry or thirsty, there over about 12 food and beverage vendors inside the Bourse to choose from.

BATHROOMS
Bathrooms are located inside The Bourse. When entering from the 5th Street entrance they are located nearby the stairs along the left aisle.

WEATHER PRECAUTIONS
If the weather is GOOD (Not raining, very cold or very hot), we will be meeting outside in Independence Mall Park across the street from the 5th Street Bourse entrance. We usually meet on some benches in the shade under the trees. We will try to meet outside as much as possible... BUT if the weather is BAD, we will be seated inside The Bourse, in the central seating area located on the ground floor.

HOW TO KNOW WHERE THE GROUP IS MEETING
To let everyone know whether we will be meeting inside or outside, one of the organizers will post a comment to this event page before the event. Please check for any comments when you plan to leave. If you have the Meetup app downloaded on your smartphone, we recommend turning on app notifications for events you are attending in order to stay informed.

COVID PRECAUTIONS
Given that we are all trying to find our way back to a new normal, for the time being, this in-person meetup will be limited to 15 people. We will try to hold events outside as much as possible or inside following recommendations and requirements for the local area. Attendees will be encouraged to...
- bring a face-covering (in case it is needed when there is poor weather and we meet inside),
- practice good hygiene (wash hands, cover coughs and sneezes, stay home if you feel sick, etc.) (The Bourse has public bathrooms and they provide hand sanitizer),
- respect others' medical situation as we do what is best for us and those that are closest to us, &
- follow city, state, and federal COVID 19 recommendations and requirements

HOW TO GET THERE
Getting there is easy. If you are taking public transit...
- Subway, the 5th St. Independence Hall Station is just a block away,
- Septa Regional Rail, Jefferson Station is located 6 blocks away,
- NJ Patco Train, 8th St. Patco Station is located just 3 blocks away, or
- Driving, there is a street parking and a parking garage located beneath the Independence Mall {Autopark at Independence Mall 41 N 6th St, Philadelphia, PA 19106}

AFTER THE MEETUP
At the end of the event, we usually go to a nearby restaurant or bar to continue the conversation. Anyone is welcome to join. We will decide which nearby restaurant or bar to go to during the meetup and walk there at the end of the meetup. We usually stay at the restaurant or bar for another 1.5 to 2 hours. Some of places we have gone are Caribou Cafe, Le Pain Quotidien, etc. and we are open to suggestions.
