Here's another new series of discussion meetups for the Victoria Photography meet up group, where we get together to talk about the techniques we use in photography. I'm calling it **Technique Talks**. Down the road, maybe we can even arrange guest speakers or even hands on demonstrations. For now, just a bunch of photographers with similar interests getting together around a table to talk techniques!

**NB: this is a participation meetup** \- everyone will take part in showing off their work\, and discussing their techniques\!

For this meetup, be prepared to showcase one or two photographs you've taken of still life, products, beverages, food, etc etc, and talk about the techniques you used to achieve it. The photos don't have to be professional or anything - just photos you are really happy with on how they turned out, perhaps unique and part of a "style" you try to achieve. they could even be photos you struggled with, and hope to find better ways to produce down the road.

For this meetup:

* Bring a device (tablet, notebook computer, smartphone etc) or printed out photograph(s) to show your photographs at the meetup.
* Tell the group the techniques you used to achieve the photo; lighting, tricks you did with the subject, what you were trying to achieve, etc etc.
* Describe challenges you had, if any, and see if others attending can be helpful with possible fixes
* Talk about the post processing stage as well, to fix any issues with the captures

The goal from this meetup is to a) view the still life and product photography others have done, and experience different styles people have, and b) to learn new techniques to possibly use in your own photography work.

For this first event, we'll just do a round table thing at a local pub. I've selected a very cool spot on the edge of downtown, Swift Brewing Tasting Room, **which is done up like "That 70's Show" inside**. There's a nice formica (!!!!) table that seats six-eight folks, hopefully we can get it, as there's no reservations. Because of this, I'll up the attendee count to 8.

Lastly, the photo above is one I'll talk about at the meetup; it was part of a magazine series done to highlight vodkas in cocktails, from 2009.
