Kicking off this beautiful night will be Tom & Lina!
Tom played a wonderful set for us back in Sept filled with folk, blues and country! He is a Pitt student and loves the Burgh.
When open mic started, a violinist , who had been dining with her family, spoke to Tom then went and got her violin. When she returned, the 2 of them went up to the mics and created such beautiful music that we were all spellbound!!! We had never heard Lina before and it sounded like the best of both Carnegie Music Hall & Nashville melded together at Pastoli's! Lina loves improvisation and has been playing violin for 30 years. She loves classical and popular music and desires to learn more about jazz.
And that's the magic that live music can create. Not only do we get to hear our local favorites, usual suspects and the occassional visitor, but sometimes we get to hear pure magic! Something entirely new! This was one of those times. They sounded like they should be somewhere on a big stage.... yet they were here...at little Pastoli's. And now... THEY'RE BACK!!!!!
Tom will kick off the evening, then they will play together, then Lina will play her set!
Open Mic to follow and donations will be accepted at the door. A portion of all sales and votes by donation for the big finale will all combine to be donated to our fellow musicians, entertainers and restaurant workers in Asheville!
Fall is sneaking up on us and we are getting excited about upcoming holidays and events! But so many in Asheville, NC are just starting to put their lives back together. Musicians, Entertainers and Restaurant Staff have been particularly hit hard. Having lived in Asheville for 9 yrs, I am still in contact with many friends who keep me updated on the "progress" since the hurricane swept many lives & livelihoods away.
Basically, they need us! And with food and music being so near and dear to our hearts, what better way to raise awareness and assistance.
We hope that you will open your hearts and your instrument cases and join us on this very special night on the weekend of Thanksgiving!
