All levels of BEGINNER play are welcome! Especially first time players are welcome, however please note this is not an instructional class. If you have been playing regularly for more than 3 months or have a DUPR rating higher than 3.0 then this is not the group for you. Please check out our Wednesday morning Intermediate group.
If you are not familiar with the game of Pickleball, the Host of the event can give you guidelines prior to playing and watching a game in progress. When you join in a game, other players can assist you with scoring and positioning. For first time players, It is advised to watch some instructional videos prior to attending to get the jest of the game. Just search "beginners Pickleball" on YouTube.
The group tries to meet at the first bench straight ahead as you walk onto the courts. If not there, we will be at the far end of the courts. The Host will meet you and explain the playing progress, or ask others who the Host is and introduce yourself. Place your paddle in the paddle rack and wait to be called out to play. Depending on how many players are in attendance and the number of courts available, different scenarios are used to get everyone on the courts as soon as possible. At times there is a wait, but it's worth it! The Host will help coordinate the beginning of play by noting which courts we are using, what the play scenario is, and calling out paddles to go onto a specific court.
If you don't have a paddle yet, you can be provided one, but it's best to have your own. Balls are not provided, so it is recommended to have a couple in your bag and be sure to put your name on them. Have proper foot wear, court shoes or tennis shoes, but no sandals. Be sure to bring something to drink. Restrooms are located next to the basketball courts.
Please RSVP if you are going to attend so we have an idea of how many players to expect. Welcome to the fastest growing sport!
Host for this Meetup is Derek.
