What to Expect: We'll spend around 3-4 hours outdoors in the city, making art and enjoying each other's company. After the painting session, we will go to a nearby cafe/restaurant to further connect. Expect a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where you can unleash your creativity and connect with fellow artists. We are going to Battery park in lower Manhattan.
How to get there:
By Subway:
4 or 5 Train: Take the 4 or 5 train to Bowling Green. Walk south on State Street and enter Battery Park.
1 Train: Take the 1 train to South Ferry. The park is just a short walk southwest.
R or W Train: Take the R or W train to Whitehall Street-South Ferry. Walk west towards the water and enter Battery Park.
By Bus:
Take the M15 or M20 bus to South Ferry and walk to the park entrance.
By Car:
Head south towards the tip of Manhattan. Follow signs for Battery Park. There are parking garages nearby, but street parking may be limited.
Walking Directions:
Walk south on Broadway until you reach Battery Park, near the waterfront, where the Carousel is located.
Agenda:
12:00 PM - 12:10 PM: We’ll gather at the entrance of the SeaGlass Carousel
From there we will spend the next 5 - 10 minutes looking for the perfect spot to settle.
12:10 PM : 3:00 PM Painting session.
3:00 - 03:30 PM- Regroup back at the Carousel for show and tell.
If you are new, Introduce yourself and your art practice, with the group, share your work(optional), sources of inspiration, and thoughts on the overall experience.
After 3:30 PM we'll get some grub at a nearby place. We encourage you to stay as this is the part that helps us truly connect and foster a meaningful connection with each other.
What to Bring:
1. Something to paint with - your preferred painting mediums, oil paints, watercolors, acrylics, gouache, ink, pastel, markers etc.
Brushes, pens and or pencils
2. Something to paint on - linen, canvas, paper, sketchbook etc.
3. Easels/pochade box (optional)
Beginners can join in with just a sketchbook or an iPad.
4. Bring your gloves and warm hats.
NOTE-
1. Dress warm and comfortably for outdoor painting.
2. The park does have a public restroom and there are a few places around for food and coffee.
3. There are benches in the park.
