What to Expect: We'll spend around 3-4 hours outdoors in Queens, making art and enjoying each other's company.

Expect a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where you can unleash your creativity and connect with fellow artists.

We are going to Forest Park in Forest Hills!

At this particular location, there is limited food and beverage options, so please pack a snack and water.

We will be outside for an extended period of time, so dress warm

We will be meeting in the Western part of Forest Hills at the Seuffert Bandshell. We’ll be painting at a small lake off one of the trails.
How to get there & Arrival details

By Subway & Bus:

From the city, the best trains to take are the E, R or A train. You do need to transfer to a bus. According to Google the Q52-SBS, Q53-SBS, Q11, and Q21 are options.

When arriving by way of Woodhaven BLVD, you’ll see Forest Park is divided with an entrance on each side of Woodhaven. We’ll be meeting at the bandshell in the West portion. The East portion has visible handball courts.

The bandshell is up Forest Park Drive. You’ll know you’re going the right way when you see a sign for the Carousel. The bandshell is just past the parking lot.
By Car:
Forest Park is easily accessible by car. From the city, take the I-495 E to Exit 19 Woodhaven Blvd. There is a free parking lot inside the park near the bandshell.

Agenda:
12:00 PM - 12:10 PM: We’ll gather at the at the Seuffert Bandshell. There is a public restroom nearby.

12:10 PM : 3:00 PM Painting session.

3:00 - 03:30 PM- Regroup back at the bandshell to showcase your work and discussion.

If you are new, Introduce yourself and your art practice, with the group, share your work(optional), sources of inspiration, and thoughts on the overall experience.
After 3:30 PM we'll get some grub at a nearby place.

We encourage you to stay as this is the part that helps us truly connect and foster a meaningful connection with each other.
What to Bring:

1. Something to paint with - your preferred painting mediums, oil paints, watercolors, acrylics, gouache, ink, pastel, markers etc.
Brushes, pens and or pencils

2. Something to paint on - linen, canvas, paper, sketchbook etc.
3. Easels/pochade box (optional)
Beginners can join in with just a sketchbook or an iPad.

4. Bring your gloves and warm hats.
NOTE- Dress warm and comfortably for outdoor painting.

5. The park does have a public restroom.

  1. The park does NOT have food or snacks so please pack a snack and water/coffee/tea.
    7. There are benches in the park.
