DESCRIPTION:

Here is a great way to get your hike in close to home and still have time to go about your day! This is a monthly hike that has great views and is close to town.

This hike starts in Riley Ranch Reserve (19975 Glen Vista Rd., Bend, OR 97701) and we hike to Tumalo State Park and return. This hike gives you a little bit of everything - canyon views/juniper & pines/unique lava flows and of course, the river! The hike is considered easy, 6.5 Miles, 200 Ft EG.

Riley Ranch offers views of the mountains and lookouts. Tumalo State Park is right on the Deschutes River which is lined with reeds and beautiful red bushes as well as large Ponderosa Pines. In the winter, the trails can be slippery, so bring yaktrax.

• Permits or Parking Fees: None as the Reserve is part of Bend Parks & Recreation
• Restroom: At each end of the trail
• Dogs: "Not allowed"

WHAT TO BRING:

* Pack the Ten Essentials, including a whistle
• Trail Snacks; Plenty of Water
• I recommend sturdy hiking boots & poles
* PLEASE READ: In winter, bring YakTrax for your shoes as parts of the trail can be icy.

DIRECTIONS: From south of Bend take NW Empire Road exit. Turn left off of highway. Turn right on O.B. Riley Road. Turn left on Glen Vista Road and drive to the end of the road to reach Riley Ranch Reserve.
From north of Bend take 3rd Street and turn right on O.B. Riley Road. Turn left on Glen Vista Road and drive to the end of the road to reach Riley Ranch Reserve.
