Bald Head Trail ( Arrowsic, Me.) Friday, Nov 29 ( rain date Sat. Nov 30)
Details
Want a healthy ( and less expensive) alternative to shopping on Black Friday and walk off that Thanksgiving dinner? Join us for a FAST-paced hike to Bald Head Trail 3.7 miles with a short 1.4 mile detour to Squirrel Point Lighthouse, a small lighthouse on the Kennebec River. The path is mostly dirt winding through the woods.
Bald trail begins on the shared trail heading towards Squirrel Point light then breaks off crossing through a marsh area and through the forest. The trail ends at the rocky ledges of Bald Head where the Kennebec and Back Rivers meet. The dramatic topography of the land jutting out to split the Kennebec and Back Rivers is one of the preserve's most stunning attractions.*Dogs are not permitted on this area managed by The Nature Conservancy. Parking is limited so plan to carpool.
The time ( not the date) may change since it is best to go at low tide, and the tide schedule only shows a week out, so please check the site before the event.
Directions. From Route 1 in Woolwich, take 127 South (towards Reid State Park) for 4.5 miles, and turn right on Bald Head Road. Drive 2.2 miles to the end of the road.
**Chris, John and I are coordinating a lot of fall hike and choosing alternative dates so people have lots of options! ;)!!!
Bring: layered clothing, good hiking boots, water, and a snack
**Please check this page for updates before the event.
