What we’re about
This group helps connect people in the Salt Lake area. We want to include everyone who enjoys having a good time. If you were never Mormon but want to be a part of our group please check us out.
Most of us are people who have left Mormonism. When leaving Mormonism, many people lose much of their community and sometimes family. They might have trouble readjusting and feel like they need to learn a whole new world - which is where we come in, creating friendships with understanding, fun people. Whether you've recently mentally left the church, have been years out the door, or even if you were never Mormon, come join us and help us establish a sense of community in Salt Lake.
This group is not affiliated with any religion or outside group. It is specifically a group for and by people who have left Mormonism and those who want to socialize with us.
Upcoming events (4)
See all- Sunday Coffee SocialBeans and Brews, Midvale, UT
- Changing location to Beans and Brews near 700 W and 7200S in Midvale.
SLC PostMos' Meetups are intended to support those who are questioning or leaving the LDS church, and who have found that there are few places where they can find supportive people to talk about their journey and few people who relate. We have no agenda or "teachings" of any kind, mostly we just chat about whatever people want to talk about.
The meetups is more about meeting people, being supportive, hearing about people's experiences, sharing challenges and talking about solutions. That said, we often talk about a wide range of issues as well, discussing politics, science, our interests, hobbies, and ideas for other activities. It is just a time to come and meet up with old and new friends. We hope you will come and hang out.
This event: We recommend you stop by a coffeehouse on your way to the event. There are multiple drive thru and walk-in coffee shops all over the SLC area.

Salt Lake City PostMormons & Friends (PostMos) is a social group that helps people connect in the Salt Lake City area. That said, Pro-LDS stances, religious proselytizing efforts, homophobia, misogynistic attitudes, transphobia or other discriminating attitudes are not conducive or welcomed in our social environment. If you decide to bring these attitudes to the group events and activities, you will be asked to leave permanently.
Discussion Guidelines:
- Listen respectfully, without interrupting.
- Listen actively and with an ear to understanding others' views. (Don’t just think about what you are going to say while someone else is talking.)
- Commit to learning, not debating.
- Allow everyone the chance to speak.
- Respect everyone's preferred pronouns.
- What is said in the group stays in the group. Respect others' privacy.

Side note from Russ: Given our shared background we all are familiar with unfounded "doctrine" based on feelings and word of mouth.
Not mandatory, but I like to encourage people not to make claims or statements on any topic unless you have articles or sources to back it up. I think its very important to avoid hearsay and raise our standards for fact checking.
