NO PHILOSOPHY EXPERTISE REQUIRED! We are having a deep discussion!

We meet weekly on Thursdays between 7-9pm PDT! The event time may say EDT but it's PDT!

The topic for the week is posted each Sunday in this group:

The goal of the Practical Philosophy Club is to create a community that is open to discussing ideas that can be used practically in everyday life.
this group isn’t aligning necessarily with the specific scope that "philosophy“ and "practical philosophy“ may have in the academic world
**We don't have topics that are off-limits and look to discuss all sides of a topic in order to:

  1. help you understand your point of view,
  2. Give you different perspectives, and
  3. realize that we all have some common ground and just because someone isn't on your "side" doesn't mean they are your enemy.**

We value communication, simplicity, balance, honesty, and discernment as values to live by, and look to build a community around these values.
The typical meeting is about 10-15 minutes of banter to warm up before we move to introduce the weekly discussion topics. If the group is large we will split into separate groups so as to maintain a conversational tone within the discussions. We'll speak for 1.5 hours before bringing all of the groups together and conclude.

This weeks discussion is on the topic of Abundance and Scarcity. A few jumping off points to get the conversation flowing:
• How do you define abundance and scarcity?
• What are things that abundant that are considered scarce?
• What are things that are scarce that are considered abundant?
• How does abundance negatively affect our lives (i.e. dating apps)
• How does scarcity negatively affect our lives
• What’s one thing that you value for its scarcity but in reality its abundant
• How do you feel about the quote: “when you want nothing, everything wants you” in relation to abundance
• When is scarcity thinking a good thing?
• How does ‘social proof’ affect how you view something?
