**EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO CONSTRUCTION AT VENUE. WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY. WATCH FOR THE NEW POSTING HERE.** Jose Schroen and her team started their month-long wilderness canoe trip with the plan to paddle through northern Labrador to Hopedale on the Atlantic Ocean. But several days in, they hit a major snag, scrambled to replan the trip on the fly (on the water?), and instead made their way to the Arctic Ocean … a small, 250-mile detour to their new end point at Kangiqsualujjuaq, Quebec!

Hear Jose's story about the history and background of the planned trip, what happened, how they replanned, and what they ended up actually doing. She'll explain how the disappearing caribou in the North was a major factor in this "failed " expedition, and how the indigenous people in the area played a key role in their success.

Northboro Historical Society, 52 Main St. (Rt.20) - parking lot on School St. Doors open at 6:30. Dinner at 7:00. Speaker shortly after. Bring a dish to share - appetizer, entree, dessert, or beverage.
