**What?**
The Bartlett Arboretum Book Club is a bimonthly program that brings readers and nature lovers together in one place. What we read is up to you! At each meeting, members vote from a selected list of nature, plant, gardening, or wildlife themed books, to determine what the next one will be. Since this is our first official meeting, the book *[Braiding Sweetgrass](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17465709-braiding-sweetgrass)*[ by Robin Wall Kimmere](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17465709-braiding-sweetgrass)r has been preselected for it. If you would like to join the club, please have read this book before our first meeting date; we will be discussing our thoughts on the book as a group then.

The nature aspect of this club won’t be only limited to the books we choose. At the meetings, there will be additional educational information provided, as well as tie-in plant activities. This will vary by meeting, but activities like book swaps, plant repotting, and propagation are all on the table! Guest speakers will also be brought to the meetings, to offer additional educational information or an important diverse perspective.

This is a low commitment book club. We hope the two months between meetings will give our members enough time to finish the book. But even if you don’t, it’s no problem. Come anyway and discuss what you did get to or hear what others have to say about the book.

**Where?**
We will meet in the Adult Classroom in the Silver Education Center. When the weather warms up again next year, we will meet outdoors within the arboretum grounds.

**When?**
Our first meeting is Thursday, December 5th, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. We meet every other month, on the first Thursday of the month, unless otherwise noted.

**Anything else?**
Yes: wine and light snacks will be served.

**DESCRIPTION**
In this workshop, participants will be provided with materials and instruction for creating their own seasonal wreath.
Light refreshments will be provided. Feel free to bring gloves, pruning shears and any decorative items you would like to include in your design.

**COST**
Bartlett Arboretum members are $60 per person; Non-Members $75 per person.

**For Health and Safety: Children under the age of 14 are not permitted to join this program.**

Wreath Making Workshop

***About the Third Thursdays series:***
A series led by Bartlett Education team members, each “walk and talk” will focus on a specific theme or section of the Bartlett, encouraging a deeper relationship with some of the special trees, plants, and animals that live and grow at the Bartlett.

Topics explored may be history, arboriculture, plant culture, and geology or wildlife habitats and behaviors. As the series title indicates, this is a program for the curious! No special knowledge is required, but walking shoes and property attire are highly recommended.

Registration is not required for Bartlett members but is encouraged.

Nature Walk and Talk at the Bartlett Arboretum

**What is the Bartlett Horticulture Club?**
The goal of the club is to create a place of community where you can learn something, meet new people, and practice your plant skills in a casual environment. Some meetings will have attendance capped when materials are limited, announced in advance.

The meetings are led by one of our Educators at the Arboretum, William, and assisted with the help of our other educators at times. The meetings begin with Arboretum or club updates that need to be shared, then progress to a brief lecture on that month’s topic, before diving into the activity itself. The club houses a collection of plants in the greenhouse. Each meeting will be centered around one main activity, announced beforehand.

On **Tuesday, January 14th**, we will have our inaugural meeting of the Bartlett Horticulture Club. The club is open to anyone 13+ or children who are accompanied by an adult. Anyone who has an interest in plants, horticulture, gardening, or nature is welcome to join, regardless of prior experience.

**Meeting Time and Location**
The Bartlett Arboretum Horticulture Club meets monthly, on the second Tuesday of the month, from 6:00-7:00 pm unless otherwise noted. Meetings will take place in the Adult Classroom in the Silver Education Building. Some meetings might be outdoor centric, but we will always meet in the classroom first and then travel outdoors to the specified location.

**The First Meeting:** Introductions
Please bring in a plant for Plant Show-And-Tell with the group. Afterward, we will repot and propagate these plants or ones from the greenhouse.
