Going to the movies used to be a thing I did by myself. But lately I've rediscovered how much fun it is to go with friends and to talk about it with them afterwards. So, here we are!
Providence Movie Club is a group where we'll go to a movie and then grab a drink after it's over to hang out and chat. I'm pretty omnivorous with my movie taste, so one week we could see something at the Avon, and the next be front and center at Morbius. Post-movie will change as well and hit bars, coffee shops, breweries, boba tea places, etc.
Don't worry about being a film expert or anything. I imagine conversations will go like most book clubs where you talk about the book for seven minutes and then everyone drops it.

It's been a long time since we've had a Saturday night Movie Club event. If you've been hoping for something on a weekend, this is a perfect one for you to show up to. We're heading to Providence Place Cinemas to see Bong Joon-ho's much-anticipated new film, Mickey 17!
Wanting to get off of Earth, the financially destitute Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) signs up to be an "expendable," a disposable clone worker, on a human colony. As an expendable, Mickey undertakes several dangerous assignments he is not expected to survive, with a new body being regenerated each time he dies. After one of his clones, "Mickey 17," is incorrectly assumed dead, both the previous and current version, known as Mickey 18, have to grapple with the nature of being expendables and the brutal government of the colony.
Join us on Saturday, March 8th for the 6:30pm showing of Mickey 17 at Providence Place Cinemas. Afterwards, we'll walk to Night Shift Kitchen, which is located inside Level 99, for food and drinks.
Meet by the group of tables across from the concession stand at 6:15pm. We'll head into the theater when it starts at 6:30pm and meet outside the door when it's over to reconnect. Feel free to sit wherever you want inside the theater. Drop a comment if you have any questions!

MOVIE CLUB HOLDS A PLACE FOR THOSE WHO PRAY

HEY, HEY, HEYJoin us on Sunday, March 16th for a 7:00pm screening of The Graduate at the AS220 Black Box theater. Doors open at 6:45pm, and we'll start the movie around 7:00ish. For anyone interested, we'll go to the AS220 bar afterwards to hang out (or someplace else downtown depending on the mood).
You know The Graduate, right? Benjamin (Dustin Hoffman), a recent college graduate very worried about his future, finds himself in a love triangle with an older woman (Anne Bancroft) and her daughter (Katharine Ross).
This is a ticketed event, and tickets are $7 each. You can pay with cash or card at the door. AS220 will soon have a preorder link as well if you want to go down that route. Feel free to drop a comment if you get lost or have any questions. The Black Box theater is located at 95 Empire Street in downtown Providence, to the right of the AS220 bar.

It's that time again............................time to mix! Our March mixer is at a local favorite of mine: ISCO Spirits! Who's trying the pizza strip spirit with me?
Reminder, there is no movie portion with the mixers, only the socializing part. Old members, new members, or anyone who has wanted to check out the club is welcome!
The event will start at 6:30pm at ISCO Spirits on Thursday, March 27th. It'll end at 9:30pm. I'll have a pile of name tags on a table for everyone to help differentiate who's there for the mixer and who's just there. Unlike some of our other mixers, ISCO Spirits is primarily a cocktail location. That said, they do have mocktail, non-alcoholic beer, and soft drink options available for you all. If the weather's nice that day, we can even spill out into their outdoor area. They'll have fire pits and fire towers.
