What we’re about
Going to the movies used to be a thing I did by myself. But lately I've rediscovered how much fun it is to go with friends and to talk about it with them afterwards. So, here we are!
Providence Movie Club is a group where we'll go to a movie and then grab a drink after it's over to hang out and chat. I'm pretty omnivorous with my movie taste, so one week we could see something at the Avon, and the next be front and center at Morbius. Post-movie will change as well and hit bars, coffee shops, breweries, boba tea places, etc.
Don't worry about being a film expert or anything. I imagine conversations will go like most book clubs where you talk about the book for seven minutes and then everyone drops it.
See you at the movies!

See all- Almost Famous at arc{hive} book + snackeryarc{hive} book + snackery, Warren, RI
I know, I know. The group is called Providence Movie Club, and we're going to a place in Warren. Don't @ me! For one of our November events, we're taking a road trip to arc{hive} book + snackery to hang out and watch a movie near and dear to my heart, Almost Famous. It tells the story of a teenage journalist, played by Patrick Fugit, writing for Rolling Stone magazine in the early 1970s, touring with the fictitious rock band Stillwater, and writing his first cover story on the band. The film is semi-autobiographical, as the screenplay author himself was a teenage writer for Rolling Stone.
Join us on Sunday, November 17th for a FREE 6:30pm showing of Almost Famous at arc{hive} book + snackery in Warren. Though the movie will start at 6:30pm, we'll get there at 4:30pm for cocktails, mocktails, snacks, and pre-movie socializing.

Hi, friends. This year's Studio Ghibli Fest is winding down. Despite being a major fan of the studio, Pom Poko is one that I actually haven't seen before. So, it's time to put on our tanooki suit and remedy that. The film centers around a colony of Japanese raccoon dogs living in the outskirts of Tokyo as they work to combat the growing deforestation of their home. As it becomes harder to find food and shelter, they decide to band together and fight back. The Raccoons practice and perfect the ancient art of transformation until they are even able to appear as humans in hilarious circumstances.
Join us on Tuesday, November 26th for the 7:00pm showing of Pom Poko at Providence Place Cinemas. Afterwards, we'll head to The Point Tavern for food and drinks. Programming note: this will be the subbed version.
Meet by the group of tables across from the concession stand at 6:45pm. We'll head in into the theater when it starts at 7:00pm and meet outside the door when it's over to reconnect. Feel free to sit wherever you want inside the theater. Drop a comment if you have any questions!
