Meditating for the Psychedelic Journey
Details
Join us on the 3rd Thursday of each month for a group seated meditation practice for the preparation and integration of psychedelic journeys. During these monthly sessions, we will sit in quiet meditation (~30mins) followed by a guided community discussion on various topics relating to psychedelics and enjoying the experience of peace within.
We’ll begin each session by clearing out the day’s busy energies with introductions, a few minutes of gentle yoga, some simple preparatory instruction, and then sitting quietly to meditate.
All are invited to sit on either the floor or chairs. Feel free to bring whatever meditation cushions, pillows, and props you wish to make yourself comfortable. There will be a few bolsters and yoga mats available for use. However, participants are encouraged to bring their own. As with all events, please plan to arrive early or on-time so we can begin promptly.
NOTE: A suggested donation of $10 (or more) is asked to help sponsor this and other events hosted by Portland Psychedelic Society. Payment will be collected at the event. RSVPs can be made without payment.
No no will be turned away due to lack of funds. All are welcome!
Host Bio
Scott Jones was 15 when he went on his first psychedelic journey, during which he was opened to a blissful state of consciousness beyond the mind and senses. When he was 16, he learned some simple meditation techniques taught by Prem Rawat that allowed him to tap into a state of peace within himself on a daily basis and that he has used to join in fully with all that the psychedelic journey has to offer.
Although Scott is no longer a student of that teacher, in the decades since learning these techniques he has participated in and led countless sessions using them to focus attention on the breath at the core of all existence and to bring peace, contentment and stability into everyday life.
