PyData Leeds: November Meet-up
Details
We’re back with something different this month as we’re hosting and sponsoring an #NHSTakeover. This will be the first in-person meet-up of the NHS Data Community and we want to invite some of the PyData Leeds community along to join in. This landmark event brings together NHS Data Professionals and talented Data folk from the Leeds region to collaboratively tackle one of the NHS’s most pressing challenges: generating high-quality test data.
So.. this is the first Hackathon-style event for the PyData Leeds Community. If you enjoy the event, we’ll be sure to do some more!
There will be space for 30 people from the Leeds PyData community - be sure to secure your ticket early and if you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket so someone else can come along! If you have any questions, reach out to one of the PyData Leeds organisers - Adam, Ed, Roger, Marius or Suze.
As always, this will be an opportunity to learn, network and engage with fellow data professionals as well as the usual drinks, food and fun!
What The Challenge Is:
Creating realistic and compliant test data is a significant hurdle within the NHS. High-quality test data is essential for developing, testing, and deploying healthcare solutions without compromising patient confidentiality. The complexity of healthcare data, coupled with strict privacy regulations, makes this an ongoing challenge that impacts efficiency and innovation across the NHS.
What We'll Tackle:
- Understanding the Challenges: Delve into the difficulties of generating high-quality test data within the NHS framework.
- Test Data Generation: Develop methods to create synthetic inpatient data and Commissioning Data Sets (CDS) that accurately reflect real-world scenarios.
- Tool Exploration: Utilise tools like the NHS AI Lab's synthetic data generator and Polyfactory to prototype solutions.
- Collaborative Prototyping: Set up Google Colab environments, load analogs of typical NHS data schemas, and innovate on data generation techniques.
Defining Success: Establish criteria for effective test data, focusing on data similarity, distribution accuracy, and maintaining relational integrity.
