Queer Hike at Cliff Cave Park
Details
Take a hike! With friends! In nature! On a Thursday morning!
The Cliff Cave River Bluff trail is a 2.1 mile loop with very little elevation change. Plan for the hike to take 45-60 minutes in total. Dogs are welcome, but must stay on leash. Kids are also welcome, though this hike would not be conducive to strollers. Park in the Upper Parking Lot, off of Cliff Cave Rd and England Town Rd. (See images for a map).
Rainbow Fit Club is designed to be a nourishing and safe place for LGBTQ+ folks to come together to move our bodies. Friends and family who are allies are welcome to join. What's a "Queer Hike"? Honestly, just making sure folks know who we are when they come across our events here on MeetUp (:
From AllTrails: This trail starts at the Spring Valley Trailhead. The mostly dirt trail, with some loose rocks, offers excellent views of the Mississippi River and the surrounding valley from atop the bluff. The loop features mostly gradual hills with only a few steep sections. You'll notice native plants and trees like gnarled chinquapin oaks, side-oats grama, and little bluestem grasses, along with various wildflowers, as you enjoy the scenic overlooks of the Mississippi River.
What to wear: Sturdy shoes for hiking, as the terrain may be uneven and with rocks. Consider dressing in layers, as it could be especially chilly since we'll be by the river.
